AI Passport Photo Editing: What Is Safe to Correct?

Imagine that the original photo is clear but the application asks for a different rectangle and a smaller file. First duplicate the original, open the exact document profile and crop without stretching the face. Review head position and background before changing pixels or compression, because those later settings cannot correct a poor composition.

Export one candidate and inspect its properties outside the editor. If the width, height and file size match but the face looks soft, return to the original and use less compression rather than sharpening an already damaged copy. This sequence isolates each decision and leaves a clean route back when the portal reports an error.

A safe fix changes the presentation around an accurately captured face. Small crop adjustments, a permitted plain background, modest light balance and final file sizing fall into that category in most cases. The result should still look like the same unfiltered person in the original frame.

A retake is better when focus missed the eyes, hair or clothing hides important facial detail, glare blocks the pupils, or the head was cut off by the camera. Generating missing detail can create a plausible picture, but plausibility is not truthfulness. Official Document Mode therefore stops short of creative reconstruction and explains why another photo is safer.

The editor preview helps with preparation, but the downloaded file is what the portal or printer receives. Confirm its name, format, dimensions and file size after saving it to the device. Upload that file directly instead of taking a screenshot or routing it through a service that can recompress images.

For a printed result, open the prepared sheet and confirm that the paper size matches the printer setting. Print at 100%, measure a test copy and only then cut the remaining photographs. These final checks take a minute and prevent a correct edit from being changed during delivery.

Save the untouched source, the final export and the official instruction page until the application is finished. If the portal rejects the image, note its exact message and the time it occurred so the next adjustment addresses evidence rather than guesswork. Do not keep creating unnamed versions because it becomes difficult to know which file was submitted.

Once the process is complete, delete files that no longer have a practical reason to remain. If you saved a PassportPhotoBox project to an account, use the project deletion control; if you worked as a guest, follow the retention information shown in the session. Contact support with a project reference rather than the photo whenever possible.
